Here's where I'll be touring for Little Fires Everywhere in September, October, and November. If I'm near you, please stop by and say hi! More details about each event will be on the Events page shortly.
My second novel, Little Fires Everywhere, is now available for preorder!
Click here to pre-order at the retailer of your choice, or call your local indie bookstore.
The cover of LIttle Fires Everywhere will be revealed soon--stay tuned!
Here's something cool. My mom informs me that there's a hidden pun on the traditional Chinese cover (available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc.)
Look carefully at characters at top right and bottom left--see how the bottom half of each is shaded out, almost ghostly? At top right, the radical for "ear" (耳) is shaded out; at bottom left, the radical for "mouth" (口) is shaded out. A nod to how no one in this family speaks (or listens)...
I really love this cover, but love it even more now that I know this.
Some new international covers to share--here are the covers for the Hebrew and Greek translations!
The Hebrew translation (from Sendik Books) will be on pre-sale at the end of April and in bookstores throughout Israel in May. The Greek translation (from Metaichmio) will be out in May as well.
Want to see more of covers from other countries? Here's a growing gallery.

I'm honored and thrilled to share that I'm one of the NEA's 2016 Creative Writing Fellows! Through its creative writing fellowships program, the NEA gives writers the time and space to create, revise, conduct research, and connect with readers.
You can view the whole list (with many, MANY writers I admire) here.
I'm delighted to share that I'm a judge (along with Héctor Tobar and Rachel Eliza Griffiths) for the 2016 PEN Open Book Award.
The Pen Open Book Award is given annually to an exceptional book-length work of literature by a writer of color. It's truly an honor to help judge it--and I have been reading like a madwoman (40+ books over the past 2 months) as part of the process! It's opened my eyes to many new writers and many new forms, and I hope the award itself will do the same for others.
Our longlist will be announced in December, and in the meantime, you can read more about the award here.
I'm very proud to be on the longlist for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, alongside so many authors (and books) I admire myself.
From the award website: "The International DUBLIN Literary Award is presented annually for a novel written in English or translated into English. The Award is an initiative of Dublin City Council the municipal government of Dublin which now retains full ownership of the award. The Award aims to promote excellence in world literature. Nominations are submitted by library systems in major cities throughout the world. The award is now in its 20th year. The Lord Mayor of Dublin is Patron of the Award."
The full longlist is available here and the shortlist will be announced in April.
I'm beyond honored (stunned, really) to share that Everything I Never Told You has been awarded the 2015 Massachusetts Book Award in fiction!
Here's a full list of the winners:
It's in amazing company alongside novels by finalists Randy Susan Meyers, Annie Weatherwax, Ward Just, Anita Diamant, and Bret Anthony Johnston. Previous years' winners can be found here (wow, that list makes my head spin).
Thanks to the Mass Center for the Book for this huge honor, and congratulations to all the other winners and finalists!
I'm thrilled to share that Everything I Never Told You has received the 2015 Medici Book Club Prize!
The mission of the Medici Book Club Prize is to recognize a distinguished work of fiction that has inspired thoughtful conversation and contributed to a deeper understanding of the human experience. Previous winners include Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being, Lauren Groff's Arcadia, and Colum McCann's Let the Great World Spin. The prize will be awarded at The Beverly Hills Literary Escape on Saturday, October 18 (where I'll be one of the featured authors!).
Thank you so much to Julie Robinson and the Medici Founding Patrons for this honor.
Hi Turkish readers! Here's the Turkish cover for Everything I Never Told You (in Turkish, Sana söyleyemediğim her şey).
The Turkish translation will be out soon from Marti. And stay tuned for more foreign edition covers, including Germany, France, and more!
The Italian edition of Everything I Never Told You will be out at the end of August from Bollati Boringhieri.
In Italian, the title is Quello Che Mon Ti Ho Mai Detto. (Everything sounds better in Italian, doesn't it?)
The Bulgarian translation of Everything I Never Told You was just published a few weeks ago--here's the cover!
The Bulgarian title is Всичко, което не ви казах, and the publisher is Avliga. Bulgarian readers can find more info on the publisher's website:
ONE more piece of award-related news this morning: Everything I Never Told You has been shortlisted for the John Creasey Dagger Award!
The John Creasey (New Blood) Dagger Award is given by the Crime Writers' Association in the UK and recognizes "the best crime novel by a first-time author of any nationality first published in the UK in English during the Judging Period." The full shortlist is here and the winner will be announced in September.
Here is some love from my (other) home state: Everything I Never Told You was recently selected as a finalist for the Ohioana Book Award!
The Ohioana Book Award is given annually and recognizes "outstanding books published each year in the categories of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, juvenile literature, and books about Ohio or an Ohioan." Everything I Never Told You is in amazing (and rather intimidating) company on the shortlist, alongside Anthony Doerr's All the Light We Cannot See, Thrity Umrigar's The Story Hour, and others--the full list is here. Winners will be announced later this month.
I'm thrilled that the Massachusetts Center for the Book has chosen Everything I Never Told You as a "Must Read" book for 2015! It's in fine company--you can see the full list for the fiction category here.
Along with the other books on the list, Everything I Never Told You is now shortlisted for the Massachusetts Book Award, which recognizes "compelling works of Massachusetts fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and children's/young adult literature" published within the past year. Winners in each category will be announced later in the year.
The Dutch translation (Wat Ik Nooit Eerder Heb Gezegd; "What I Never Before Have Said") was published on June 30 by AW Bruna, and the simplified Chinese edition (无声告白; "Silent Confessions") was published yesterday, July 1, by Shanghai Dook Publishing.
Many more translations coming down the pipeline... French, German, Italian, Greek, Hebrew, Turkish, Czech, and more! I'll post covers and updates here as I have them.
Penguin is giving away 25 copies of the new paperback Everything I Never Told You on Goodreads--but there's only one more day! To enter, visit Goodreads here and click "Enter Giveaway." The giveaway ends June 22 at midnight Pacific time.

This is the simplified Chinese edition (the version of Chinese used in most of mainland China), which should be out soon from Dook Publishing. There will also be a traditional Chinese edition, coming out from Delight in Taiwain.
